This wedding was elegance defined - just a classically beautiful setting, a gorgeous bridal bouquet, and a radiantly happy couple in a lace gown and a blue suit. On a sunny September day, friends and family gathered under the grand oak tree in the Shakespeare Garden at Portland’s International Rose Test Garden to witness Gianna and Ray’s marriage and wish them happiness. Then we all went to Seratto in NW Portland for a delicious meal and more celebration. It couldn’t have been simpler or more perfect. . .

What a beautiful wedding this was! I’ve been looking forward to Phil and Eric’s wedding at the Armory all year, and it didn’t disappoint. You could really feel how excited this lovely couple was to be tying the knot. They had a beautiful ceremony on the mezzanine of the Armory, followed by a delightful brunch. Afterwards, we were lucky enough to have perfect weather as we took photos of the happy couple in Tanner Springs Park, and then ended the day with an all-you-can-play party and pizza at Portland’s beloved grown-up arcade, Ground Kontrol. The day really could not have gone any better. . .

I was surprised to hear that Kaanchan and Alex had found a beautiful winery for their wedding venue that was right here in the west hills of Portland. Amaterra is a stunning backdrop for couples seeking a classic, elegant winery wedding celebration, and it is SO close and SO convenient. I love hearing about and shooting at great new venues . . .

Julie and Justus chose Mildred Hall because they wanted to show friends and family their beloved NE Portland neighborhood. From the charming tree-lined streets to the colorful murals and lovely Alberta Park, it turned out to be an amazing area for some fun, unique wedding photography. And, of course, it didn’t hurt that the happy couple had that amazing just-married glow and kept each other laughing and smiling throughout the day. . .

I’m delighted to share another beautiful, tiny Portland wedding - this time on the Redwood Observation Deck in Forest Park. 2021 has been a great year for lovers of very intimate weddings - I love ceremonies that include all of the wedding guests and just feel really personal and special. And despite its size, this tiny wedding felt really grand, with a setting of giant Redwoods, all the separate pieces of a traditional Jewish ceremony, and music by a three-piece klezmer band! It was such a privilege to be a part of it.

Sally and Ben had one of the most intimate wedding ceremonies I’ve ever been a part of - I was not only the photographer, but one of their two witnesses as well. And that was it - two witnesses, the happy couple, and their officiant, my lovely friend Maureen Haley. Like me, Sally and Ben love how simultaneously grand and intimate Oaks Pioneer Church in Sellwood is, so they made plans to have their elopement ceremony there on a lovely Tuesday evening. After a very heartfelt ceremony, we took some portraits in the church and in Sellwood Park, just down the street. It was a really lovely and special event, and I was so happy to be a part of it!

Elder Hall is probably my favorite Portland venue for an intimate wedding. It’s super cozy and really homey (if your home is adorably and thoughtfully decorated and has a big, beautiful fireplace). So I was really excited to shoot this tiny wedding with Josh and Jessica and their families. Especially with the frequent protests-about-all-the-kissing and the occasional photo-bomb from Jessica’s two adorable daughters. . .

Wedding Venue Roundup, Part II

If you’re familiar at all with the Pacific Northwest, you know there’s nothing quite like a sunny summer day in Portland, Oregon. It’s so green and beautiful here, and Portland brides and grooms have a hard time resisting a sunny summer Saturday for their wedding date. In my previous post, I showed some of my favorite indoor/outdoor Portland venues, so today I’m going to stay in Portland, but show off some of the beautiful outdoor spaces right here in the city. . .
