It’s been such a beautiful October for photos this year! Here’s a lovely little engagement session with Jenny and Charlie in Lower McCleay Park and Trail in Portland’s Forest Park. It was great to spend an afternoon with them and get to see their playful side! I’m looking forward to working with them again for their wedding next summer.
This was a first for me but so much fun - Chase practices historic European martial arts and wanted some photographs in his armor. We wanted a natural, wooded setting but still a dramatic, low-key look. We drew quite a bit of attention in Portland’s Forest Park on a beautiful Fall afternoon! Such a great mini portrait session - I’m looking forward to working with Chase and his fiancée Danielle on their upcoming wedding!
Rowan and Ryan had a small wedding ceremony in a field somewhere, weeks before I got to spend the evening with them for the Ecotrust Rooftop wedding reception. So this beautiful evening was just for eating, drinking, dancing, and celebrating with friends and family. I love all of those things, and I love the light on the Ecotrust Rooftop, so it was fine and dandy by me.
Bridal Veil Lakes is one of my favorite wedding venues in the Columbia River Gorge, near Portland, Oregon. No matter what direction I point my camera, everything there is beautiful. And being basically on the side of the mountain overlooking the river, there always seems to be beautiful light. So I was delighted when Liz got in touch with me about photographing her wedding with Kelly there this summer. . .
Kelly and Luke are friends from long ago, when we all worked in a restaurant together in Portland, Oregon. I was so delighted to have the chance to travel to Denver, Colorado to photograph their wedding and get so see the beautiful life they’ve built there together. And I’d heard so much about their families that it was amazing to get to meet them as they celebrated together. I’m so happy that these two found each other and continue to make each other so very happy. . .
This one’s the last of this year’s lovely backyard wedding ceremonies. I loved getting to witness Steve and Krista’s intimate backyard wedding celebration with their big lovable dog Otto and their immediate family, followed by a lovely rooftop reception at the Eastside Exchange. I even talked them into a few wedding day sunset portraits in Sellwood Park. Everyone had a lovely time, especially Otto. . .
This was a long but truly fantastic day. Qatanna and Doug met their families early at Lan Su Chinese Garden in downtown Portland, before it opened, so that we could have it to ourselves for photos. Then it was back home for a beautiful and intimate backyard wedding ceremony with their closest friends and families (this was the first time I had the pleasure of shooting a backyard wedding, and there's something so magical about it!). Then we took a little lunch break before heading to Cooper's Hall for a ridiculously fun reception . . .
Jessie and Dave's Camp Angelos wedding was such a beautiful example of an amazing group effort event. Friends and family members pitched in on gorgeous flowers, hand-painted escort cards, homemade traditional desserts, and fun family traditions. Add a bunch of adorable kids, really delicious food, a doggy ring-bearer, and lots of warm, lovely people, and you have a truly unique, memorable wedding day for a fantastic couple.
